Doctors are concerned that language in Senate Bill 1611, an omnibus immigration bill, could require anyone who accepts public funding, such as payments through the state's Medicaid program, to report patients to immigration authorities if they can't prove citizenship. They also worry that Gov. Jan Brewer's budget proposal to eliminate at least 280,000 people from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System would have ripple effects throughout the health-care system and ultimately doom many health-care providers.
